Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
As a Dental Assistant at Smiles of Orlando, you will work directly under the supervision of our prosthodontist, supporting clinical procedures, atencion al paciente, and the daily operations of our practice.
Clinical and Chairside Assistance
- Organize and prepare instruments and materials for the dentist’s use.
- Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments and materials to the dentist during procedures.
- Fabricate temporary dental crowns.
- Prepare materials for dental impressions and restorations.
- Take impressions of patients’ teeth for diagnostic casts.
- Pour impressions, incluyendo boxeo y vertido, and trim dental casts and models.
- Maintain a clean, organized dental laboratory.
- Sterilize dental instruments and equipment between patients.
- Take dental X-rays, including full-mouth series, panoramic images, y exploraciones CBCT.
Patient Care and Documentation
- Help patients feel comfortable before, durante, and after dental treatment.
- Review patients’ medical histories, obtain dental records, and document relevant information for the dentist.
- Take accurate clinical notes and enter information into the practice’s paperless dental software.
- Provide patients with dental care instructions and guidance.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients regarding their care.
Equipment and Practice Support
- Stock treatment operatories and maintain clinical supply inventory.
- Oversee preventive maintenance of dental equipment.
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and efficient clinical environment.
- Support the practice’s ongoing performance improvement initiatives.
Calificaciones, Educación, y experiencia
Qualified candidates should meet the following education, Experiencia, and professional requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of four years of experience as a Dental Assistant (EFDA).
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) and radiology licensure / EFDA qualifications.
- Proof of completion of a radiation safety course.
- Fluency in English, with strong verbal communication skills.
- Current X-ray license or ability to obtain one within the first 90 dias de empleo, allowing advancement from a training position.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain certification within the first 30 dias de empleo.
- Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA regulations, including maintaining the confidentiality of patient information.
- Ability to comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Willingness to participate in activities that support the continuous improvement of the practice.
