Prosthodontics is a dental specialty recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA) that focuses on restoring and replacing missing or damaged teeth. A prosthodontist is a dentist who completes advanced specialty training beyond dental school, developing expertise in restoring oral function, improving smile aesthetics, and managing complex dental needs.

Patients commonly see a prosthodontist for dental implants, dentures, crowns, bridges, severely worn or damaged teeth, cosmetic concerns, and comprehensive smile rehabilitation.
